Apes and Language – now on Oprah!

I didn’t realize how trendy we were being in class on Monday when I discussed apes and language ability.  That afternoon there was a bit on Oprah about Kanzi, the bonobo who communicates with a symbol board!

There are lots of other apes who have been taught language in different ways.  Each of these unique projects, with different species, help us to better understand the evolution of language ability in apes, including humans.
